Our Adult Day Care provides services for adults with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities. The program will focus on being active outside and highly involved in the local communities. With volunteer opportunities in the area, individuals will participate in various activities to ensure their day is structured and fulfilling. When not in the community, we will focus developing basic daily living skills (ADLs/IADLs) e.g.; cooking, communication, personal hygiene, light household tasks, budget planning, shopping and behavioral expectations both in the community and with peers. The program is based in my personal home located in Pierce County, WI.
**My home is not wheelchair accessible at this time.**
The goal of the program is to leave each day with a sense of accomplishment and pride!
The program will focus on being active in the community. We will spend much of our time helping in our local communities. This might include delivering Meals on Wheels, visiting the elderly in care facilities or participating in various community events. Those in the program must demonstrate the motivation and drive to make a difference in our communities.
It won't be all work and no play! We will have activities scheduled each week such as, going to the movies, bowling, parks, libraries, visiting local attractions or special craft/activity at the program. Every month a program schedule will be developed and shared with the families. This will allow the individual to stay informed and be prepared each day for the scheduled activity.
**Schedule will be subject to change depending on weather & other factors**
We have multiple animals at our program and daily interaction will occur. Those animals may include: cats, dogs, chickens, rabbits, ducks & pigs. We will take the opportunity to educate about these animals and basic interactions to ensure safety.
We will also be spending time outside, especially during the warmer months. We will be working with various plants and flowers during these months. Individuals would need to be prepared for these potential allergens and determine if the program would be a good fit for them.
~Every family has a story...Welcome to Our Home~
